Privacy Policy
Version 2026-09-18-v1 · Effective September 18, 2026
This policy describes how WiserBuild actually works as of the effective date shown above. Where it says we do not do something, we checked.
WiserBuild is operated by AACI Group, Inc. Reach us about anything on this page at privacy-wiserbuild@catastropheprep.com.
What WiserBuild does
You send us building or renovation plans. A person at AACI Group reads them and sends you written notes on wildfire resilience and the local code considerations we think are worth your attention.
That is the whole of it. WiserBuild does not determine code compliance, does not certify anything, and does not decide or predict what any insurer will do. Our notes are informational and you should treat them that way.
What we collect
- Your email address, if you give it to us to receive the sample report, join the waitlist, or have us reply to you.
- Building or renovation plans you upload. Documents, drawings and images. They are stored privately and reached only through expiring links.
- Anything you type into the contact form, including your name and your message.
- Your consent record. The exact wording you agreed to, and when.
- Ordinary server logs. Your IP address, browser type, and pages viewed, kept for security and troubleshooting.
- Advertising and analytics identifiers, described in its own section below.
We do not create an account for you and we do not ask you to. There is no login. We take no payments and never ask for payment details. We do not ask for your property address.
Why we use it
- To read your plans and send you notes, which is the thing you asked us to do.
- To reply to you.
- To keep a record that you agreed to our terms, which is itself a legal requirement.
- To keep the site working and secure, and to find and fix faults.
- To measure how the site is used and to advertise it.
- To meet our own legal and record-keeping obligations.
Who receives it
We share your information with these kinds of recipients, and only for these reasons:
- Our own and AACI Group's internal systems, which is where your submission and your inquiry are stored.
- Service providers that operate parts of this site for us, including hosting, file storage, email delivery and product analytics. They act on our written instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
- Advertising and measurement platforms, as described in the next section.
- Anyone we are legally required to give it to, such as in response to a valid legal demand or to protect someone from harm.
No insurer, broker or contractor receives your plans, your inquiry or your email address from this site as it currently operates. If that changes, this page changes first.
Advertising and tracking on this site
This site loads a Google tag manager container, Google Analytics, Google Ads conversion tracking, a Meta pixel, and a product analytics tool. It also loads the AACI Group privacy script, which exists to enforce your choices and runs before any of the others.
Through the advertising code, identifiers tied to your device and your activity on this site are disclosed to Google and Meta, and those platforms can use them to show you advertising elsewhere.
Your uploaded plans, the contents of your message, and your email address are never disclosed to an advertising platform. What is disclosed is the advertising and analytics identifiers.
Selling and sharing
We do not sell your personal information for money.
We do share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, which is the specific thing California law means by sharing. The section above describes exactly what is shared and with whom. We are telling you this plainly rather than claiming otherwise, because it is what the site does today.
You can stop it at any time, in one click, using Your Privacy Choices at the bottom of any page, or by sending a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser. When you do, the advertising code is switched off before it can read anything, and your choice is recorded so we can act on it elsewhere.
Sharing between our brands
AACI Group runs a family of related wildfire and property-risk services: WiserBuild, Defensible Space Score, Home Hardening Score, Wildfire Action Plan, WildfireList, FireFoil and its Firezat, FireShields and Wildfire Arsenal storefronts, and Five Bays Insurance Agency.
We combine the information collected across these services. We do it to recognize you rather than asking the same question twice, to build a fuller picture of a property and the risk it carries, and to produce aggregate insight into wildfire risk and what actually reduces it.
Some of these brands are operated by different companies within the group, specifically AACI Group, Inc., Loss Prevention Solutions as a division of AACI Group, Inc., Firezat, Inc. doing business as FireFoil, and Five Bays Insurance Agency, LLC. They are under common ownership and control, and we treat information moving between them as disclosure to an affiliate rather than a sale.
Your choices travel with you. An opt-out or a deletion request made on any one of our sites is recorded centrally and applied across all of them. You do not have to ask each brand separately.
Our affiliated insurance agency
AACI Group includes Five Bays Insurance Agency, a licensed insurance agency and a separate company from the one that operates this site.
Nothing you do here sends your details to Five Bays automatically. It only happens if you ask to be connected, and asking is always a separate, clearly labelled step you have to take yourself.
We treat any such referral as a sharing of your personal information that you can stop. If you opt out, we will not pass your details to Five Bays, whatever you clicked before, and we will not restart it without asking you again.
Your choices, and how to use them
You can, at any time and without giving a reason:
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
- Tell us to stop sending you marketing email.
- Tell us to stop sending you text messages.
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to delete it.
- Ask us to correct it.
Use the Your Privacy Choices link at the bottom of any page, or submit a privacy request. You do not need an account and we will not ask you to create one. Opting out takes no more steps than opting in did.
We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights. You will get the same service, at the same price.
How long we take
| What you asked for | We respond within |
|---|---|
| Opt out of sale or sharing | 15 business days |
| Stop marketing email | 10 business days |
| Stop text messages | 10 business days |
| Know, delete, or correct | Acknowledged in 10 business days, answered in 45 calendar days |
Opting out needs no proof of identity, and we will not ask for any. Asking us to hand over, delete, or correct your data does need us to check you are who you say you are, because handing your data to the wrong person would be the greater harm.
Global Privacy Control
If your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we read it as a valid opt-out of sale and sharing for that browser, and we act on it immediately. You do not have to tell us twice.
Someone acting for you
An authorized agent can make a request for you. Say so on the request form. We may contact you to confirm you authorized it.
How long we keep things
We keep your submission, your inquiry and the record of your consent for as long as we need it for the purpose you gave it, and then for as long as we are required to keep records of it. We keep server logs for a short operational period. When you ask us to delete your information, we delete it except where the law requires us to keep a record that you asked.
Keeping it safe
Your information sits in access-controlled systems, encrypted in transit. Uploaded plans are stored privately and served only through expiring links. Only people who need it to do their job can reach it. No system is perfectly secure and we will not pretend otherwise.
Children
This site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, write to privacy-wiserbuild@catastropheprep.com and we will remove it.
If you are outside California
The rights above are written to California law because that is where most of the people who use this site live. If you are in another state with its own privacy law, or in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you have rights under that law too, and the same request form reaches us. Tell us where you are and we will apply whichever rules give you more.
Changes
If we change this policy we publish the new version here with a new version number and effective date, and we keep the old one on file. A change that would newly allow us to sell or share your information will not be applied to information we already hold without asking you first.
